Open Question: Compare to Nova Scotia. Why only in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area were the coals subjected to metamorphism?

Pennsylvanian age coal deposits in Nova Scotia are NOT metamorphosed. Those in Appalachian and the Illinois basin are also NOT metamorphosed. The Pennsylvanian age coal found in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA region are the rank of anthracite and thus said to have been metamorphosed.
