Open Question: Can you dig up a bush in the winter and replant it in the spring or summer?

We live in Illinois, I want to dig up a few bushes and plant them at my new house in the spring ot summer time. One bush is a lilac, the others are burning red bushes or something like that. Can I dig these up now without killing them to replant them when it gets warmer out? What process would I need to follow to keep them healthy while being stored? Thank you!!... Read More »
